Arnoga and the surrounding area in winter
A winter wonderland in the heart of Valtellina
Snow reshapes the landscape, softening its contours and creating a boundless, silent space, in a profound harmony between man and nature. A prime location for discovering the Upper Valtellina: the ski slopes, trails and outdoor activities, the warmth of the thermal waters and the gems of an unspoilt landscape.
Welcome to a place where you always have a new experience to try, every day.

Alpine skiing
Just a few minutes separate the tranquillity of Arnoga from the variety of major Alpine ski resorts. On one side lie the World Cup slopes at Bormio, on the other the vast snow-covered plateaus of Livigno, via the panoramic runs of Cima Piazzi-San Colombano. Choosing Arnoga means having access to the most important ski resorts in the Alps without sacrificing the seclusion of a high-mountain village.
Cross-country skiing amongst the larch trees
Here, cross-country skiing has its own distinct character. One of the nearest trails is the Pista Viola, which offers around 10 km of recreational and competitive trails, set amidst the flat, wooded landscape of the Val Viola, amongst snow-laden trees, open stretches and gentle changes in gradient. Also not to be missed is the Livigno loop, a 30 km trail that is always sunny, much loved and picturesque.
Snowshoe walks and snow hikes
With snowshoes on your feet, the mountains take on a new look and open up to meditation. The routes between Arnoga and Val Viola lead through landscapes of rare beauty, where silence is absolute and the views reveal themselves suddenly. No trails, no crowds: just snow, fresh air and peace.
Fat bikes on snow-covered trails
Cycling enthusiasts know no seasonal limits. The well-trodden paths around Arnoga, many of which were originally built for military use, become rideable even in winter thanks to Fat Bikes. The wide tyres provide stability on compact snow, transforming summer routes into completely new, challenging and enjoyable trails.
Family Bob
The Cima Piazzi Happy Mountain Ski Area boasts an attraction unrivalled anywhere in Lombardy: the region’s only bobsleigh run, offering a 600-metre descent through parabolic bends and alpine vistas. An ideal activity for all ages, as it requires no prior experience, just a desire to have fun. One of those pleasures perfect for enjoying with the family.
Bormio Thermal Baths
Outside, snow. Inside, 37-degree thermal waters with snow-capped peaks providing the backdrop. The Bormio Thermal Baths, just a twenty-minute drive away, are among the oldest in Europe: frequented since Roman times, today they offer outdoor pools, steam baths and a silence that envelops the senses. The ideal way to round off a day of activities in the snow.
Husky Village
Just 50 metres from the hotel lies the Centro Italiano Sleddog Husky Village, one of the most important husky training centres in Europe. Here, packs of Alaskan Huskies are waiting to take guests on a sleigh ride along a 5-kilometre route through the snow, amidst the magic of the woods. An hour of fun, an experience you’ll never forget.
Fine wines from high-altitude vineyards
The valleys surrounding Arnoga are dotted with wineries where the wine tells the story of the mountains with the same precision as the snow tells the story of winter. Throughout Valtellina, dozens of wine producers offer tours and tastings of Sforzato and Valtellina Superiore, among the most highly regarded high-altitude reds, and of many other Grand Crus. A slow-paced pleasure, perfect for winter days.
