Arnoga and the surrounding area in summer

The heart of the Alps, where nature sets the pace

Strategically situated on the edge of the Stelvio National Park, Arnoga is the natural starting point for exploring the Upper Valtellina.

Here, summer is a season of light and crisp air, inviting you to rediscover the area through movement and contemplation. From the trails that wind their way into the wildest valleys to the peaks marking the border with Switzerland, every route tells a story of nature and traditions.

Hiking, outdoor activities and walking trails

Here, you can explore the mountains by following a network of mapped trails that wind their way through woods and mountain pastures. From the tranquillity of the Cancano Lakes to the silence of the Val Viola, and on to the Val Verva and Val Grosina, each route offers a different way to experience the high mountains. Routes suitable for families are complemented by more challenging trails, which lead all the way to the Swiss border in the Val di Campo.

Cycling trips

The Arnoga area is a network of historic military roads and dirt tracks that are ideal for mountain biking, e-biking and fat biking. Cycling along these routes means journeying through history and nature, enjoying challenging climbs and panoramic views that suddenly open up from the peaks.

Husky Village

The Italian Husky Village Dog Sledding Centre, with its Nordic dogs, is located just 50 metres from the Resort. Here, even in summer, you can enjoy experiences with huskies, including walks and guided activities, and get an up-close look at the life of the pack. This encounter takes place in harmony with the animals’ natural rhythms, offering you the chance to experience the mountains in a whole new way.

The ancient springs of Bormio

Just a few kilometres away, wellness takes its most ancient form in the thermal waters. Between the Bagni Vecchi, the Bagni Nuovi and Bormio Terme, the visit becomes a rejuvenating ritual where the warmth of the water meets the purity of the mountain air, offering deep relaxation after a day spent on the trails.

The Bernina Red Train

The Bernina Express, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is a non-rack railway that winds its way along a scenic route through perennial glaciers and past the highest peaks. A spectacle that changes with every bend and takes the eye beyond the Swiss border, thanks to an engineering feat that has made the vastness of the high mountains accessible in a respectful and extraordinary way.

Horse riding

Riding in the silence of nature in Arnoga is an experience that unfolds amidst woods, clearings and more open stretches. The excursions, accompanied by expert guides, follow well-trodden paths through landscapes that change naturally. The horse’s hoofbeats blend with the sounds of the mountains: a magical experience to be enjoyed alone or with the whole family.

Divine sips and the soul of the earth

On the slopes of Valtellina, the vines grow supported by dry stone walls, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, guardians of ancient wisdom. These stone structures retain the heat of the day, releasing it slowly during the night, allowing the grapes to ripen on steep slopes. In the historic cellars of the surrounding area, every bottle tells the story of this indissoluble bond between human labour and the rock, offering wines with a bold and authentic character, all waiting to be savoured.

In summer, Arnoga is a blend of colour, nature and activity, but even in winter, when everything is blanketed in snow, it offers plenty to do and see.
